Habitat for Humanity is a charity which builds homes with families in need around the world.  Thier vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.  By joining a building team we join with the poor in their struggle for a simple affordable home.  Houses are sold at cost and our labour helps reduce the sale price.  Each potential home owner also has to contribute their own 'sweat equity' i.e. they have to help in the building process.  Repayments go into a revolving fund to help build more homes in the community.  Richard Jones led a team to Kaoma in Zambia.  During their stay they were able to complete one house and almost complete two others.  Living conditions were basic with squat latrines, bucket showers and sleeping on the floor.  The team rose to the challenge and everyone had a tremendously positive experience greatly enriched by the Zambian people who were our hosts.  For more details visit www.hopebuilders.org.uk
