Silent Prayer Service at St Martins

We hold a half-hour Taizé-style 'prayers by candlelight' service every first

Wednesday of the month at St Martin's at 7pm. More than half of the

service is in silence, with the rest made up of readings and Taizé songs.

The idea is that the prayer at this service is more focused on hearing

from God than talking at him.

If you think you don't know any Taizé songs already, think again: they

include 'O Lord, hear my prayer' and 'Bless the Lord, my soul', and are

all similarly short and easy to learn. And, of course, if you don't want to

sing, you don't have to.

After the service you can stay and continue your prayer for as long as

you like, or alternatively have a relatively uncontemplative mug of hot

chocolate or Ovaltine in the Brass Crosby room.
